Response teams were focused on reestablishing power throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews working to manage the extensive power failures.
Victoria's Storm Challenges
Simultaneously, approximately one thousand energy customers in Victoria also encountered energy failures after the metropolitan area recorded its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services responded to 598 requests for assistance across the area, primarily for property damage but also for downed trees and inundation.
Most Impacted Locations
- The Werribee area - recorded considerable storm damage

During the peak on the previous day, over 28,000 energy customers in Victoria were lacking electricity.
Meteorological Predictions
Damp conditions were predicted to continue along large portions of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
The following day was expected to become the most rainy day, with continued storm activity predicted across various areas of both areas.
Health Warning
Medical authorities warned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, especially given the current weather patterns.
This warning comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the region.
